On the Ground at Camp
With the weather warming up, we were able to make our first trip down to camp. Upon arrival, it was discovered there is a fallen tree. Thankfully there were cabins damaged. This tree line is dearly loved by campers and staff, for the shade it provides. The fallen tree will be a great source of firewood, but will be missed.

How to Prepare Your Anxious Child for Sleepaway Summer Camp
“Going away to sleepaway summer camp is an exciting time for you and your child. But the fears and concerns your child may have about it are an opportunity for them to grow and mature! That’s because sleepaway camp is a chance for them to meet new people, have new experiences, and overcome some challenges. These are all valuable life lessons and just some of the benefits of going to camp."
Not sure what to pack for camp, don’t worry!! We’ve got a full packing list available.

Par 5 Challange
Since the Camp was not able to host the golf tournament this year to help with operational expenses, I propose a different kind of “virtual golf challenge” called the PAR 5 Challenge – a donation of $500.00 or a Pre-Authorized Remittance monthly contribution that would add up to $500.00 for a year. I will lead off the PAR 5 Challenge with a donation of $500.00 and if nine other people participate in the PAR 5 challenge, I will make an addition $500.00 donation which will be beyond my regular monthly PAR donations. This challenge is to be treated as separate from the Endowment Campaign. The money is for operational or bursary expenses.
Robert Carruthers is the first to meet the PAR 5 Challenge with a $500.00 donation to the bursary fund. If 8 other people step forward with a donation of $500.00 each, please let me know and I will issue another cheque for an another $500.00 to start the second stage of the challenge.
Best Wishes. Camp Abby is always in my heart

Cabin Report | September 2021
Summer 2021 is a wrap!! We want to thank everyone for your ongoing support. Be sure to check back soon, as we lots more photos to come from Teen Week.
Thank You to Our Staff
Camp memories are still fresh; camp songs may still be ringing through your homes; and the Abby Counselors and friends are probably still a part of the story telling. We hope so!!
Coming back together for camp this year had an added layer of excitement – and challenge. All staff members were very conscious of the Covid demands for extra caution and extra cleaning! All staff were excited to get back on site after being away last summer.
We want to give an extra shout out and THANK YOU to all our staff members. Our campers had what they were missing – an Abby summer! Our Directors, Victoria Murphy and Maddy Galway lead the team with their creativity, their energy!! And their leadership skills needed to keep a staff of many personalities and abilities working as a TEAM! Another great summer Maddy and Vic!!
Campers are active and hungry! THANK YOU to our cook, Maxine Casely and her assistant Codilyn Durdle! It’s a large job to keep everyone happy!
Our program coordinators, Carly Enman (Outdoor Life); Nathan Wright (Sports and Rec), Paige Lauwerijssen (Faith Formations); Sophia Galway (Arts and Crafts), and Sofia Campos (Life Guard) gave campers lots of fun and time to grow naturally. Thanks as well to Aiden and Isaac for helping Carly with Outdoor Life this summer.
Our Counselors, some with lots of camping experience and some with very little, all worked together in this year when breaks were harder to fit in (due to Covid restrictions) and campers still needed all the connections and care of every summer. THANK YOU Aiden Stewart, Colby Buch, Isaac Ross, Jeanna Pickering, Justin Knox, Justin Thompson and Mallory Grant (Aug). They pulled together for all the usual challenges a summer camp season offers as well as some others! Way to go Team Abby 2021!!
Our CITs were small in number this year as we awaited word from the Public Health office about our numbers. THANK YOU Addi Chandler, Laurel Wigmore, Mallory Grant (July) and Oscar Cormier. We hope you’ll continue your Leadership growth and join us again as Staff one day. Remember if your camper/s will be 14 by next July they can apply to be a CIT. Watch our Facebook page for news next year.
With lots of Abby gratitude for our Staff and Campers!
Pix Butt – Staff Chair
Staff Committee members: Alex Corbett, Gary Paynter, Jillian Avender, with our Directors with us for Interviews.
