Technology Policy

Camp is a chance for your child to unplug from technology. At Camp Abby campers are not permitted to have any technology. This includes but is not limited to phones, tablets, smart watches and mp3 players.

While at camp. campers may see staff on their devices at various times.
Our camp staff use technology primarily as a means of communication with camp board members. Staff also use it as a tool to plan the summer program, and manage information. It is also an important tool to have on hand for emergencies.

Sleeping at Camp

If your child is not familiar with sleeping in a sleeping bag, be sure to show them how to roll and unroll it. Remind them they can ask for assistance from their counselor. We understand it can be challenging to pack up a sleeping bag. It may be helpful if they have never used a sleeping bag. To get your child sleep in the sleeping bag for a couple nights. So they get comfortable with it.

Practicing Skills

If your (parent/guardian) packing their bag for the week at camp. Be sure to get your child to help, so they know where to locate their belongings.

Have them practice their bedtime routine. Pretend they are at camp and put their toothbrush and other toiletries where it will be for camp. So they can go through the whole process, grabbing their stuff, heading to the bathroom, brushing teeth, washing their face/hands, and putting on pyjamas without assistance.

Photography Philosophy

At Camp Abegweit, we know that while your child is at camp, photos are your window into your child’s camp experience.

We currently do not have a dedicated media person at camp. It is a shared responsibility amongst the leadership team at camp.
